POST: Section Head: Communication Services (at the level of a Brigadier –
Salary Level 13)
LOCATION: Executive Support Services, DPCI, Head Office, Pretoria
LEVEL OF REMUNERATION: Band A (SMS) = an all-inclusive flexible
remuneration package of R1 076 370. 00 per annum is applicable to the post
The post requires skills in: strategic capability, analytical ability, leadership
and project management, financial management, change management,
service delivery innovation, problem solving and analysis, people
management and empowerment, client orientation, audit and assurance,
audit and risk management experience, stake holder relations and customer
focus. Applicants will be expected to have knowledge of systems, processes,
procedures, policies and legislation relevant to the field of the post such as
the National Treasury Regulations, Risk Management Framework in the
Public Sector and other relevant legislation. Applicant must also be
computer literate (Microsoft Word / Power Point / Excel).
• Have at least a three-year Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma
(accredited by SAQA on NQF level 6) or equivalent SAQA accredited
qualification in Communication studies or related fields.
Certification of membership of a communication related
professional organisation may be an added advantage;
• Have minimum of three years’ appropriate managerial experience
in the field of the post;
• Be fluent in at least two (2) of the official languages, of which one
must be English;
• Have a valid motor vehicle drivers’ license and
• The successful candidate will be required to obtain a security
clearance of Top Secret before approval of appointment (if not
already in possession of such a valid security clearance).
*Manage rendering of excellent media coverage and relations building on core
*Ensure the promotion of positive interaction within the DPCI and between
communities, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO’s) and Government
*Manage all communication requirements in the office of the National Head:
*Manage the optimisation of the use of information dissemination mediums;
*Provide leadership and management to the Section: Communication
*Managing of media activities, compilation and co-ordination of press
releases, monitoring of media reports, analysis and coordinating of Provincial
*Develop standardised policies in support of corporate identity in the DPCI;
*To institutionalise a Corporate Identity for all DPCI buildings;
*Ensure preserving and promoting of DPCI image and a unique identity;
*Provide a range of community outreach programmes aimed at promoting
community awareness of and involvement in departmental programmes,
activities and events;
*Manage communication campaigns for the DPCI;
*Provide exhibition services for the DPCI, national and provincial shows, in
other government departments and organisations on invitation;
*Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with key role-players in DPCI
*Manage social responsibility programmes for the DPCI;
*Manage and utilise all resources allocated to the immediate post environment
in accordance with the relevant directives and legislation.

• Applicants are expected to disclose if he/she is a respondent in an interim or
final protection order in terms of the Domestic Violence Act, 1998 (Act No 116
of 1998) or Protection from Harassment Act, 2011 (Act No 17 of 2011), and
may be disqualified from appointment to that post.
• The final selected candidate must disclose any financial interest, in the
prescribed format, as provided for in the SAPS Employment Regulations,
2018, for newly appointed SMS candidates or proof of the electronic

• The successful candidate will have to conclude a contract of employment,
enter into a performance agreement and disclose all financial interests in
terms of the South African Police Service Employment Regulations, 2018, and
the Public Service Regulations, 2016.
• The appointee’s academic qualification will be submitted to SAQA for
verification, if not verified already.
Through the filling of the above-mentioned posts, an applicant whose
